Yoga on Kos

There’s nothing better than relaxing your body and mind and to go home rejuvenated. Be yourself in a relaxed, calm and inspiring environment. The workshops are tailored for you to relax and recharge. You will be pampered and at the same time still maintain your privacy. Whatever you desire, everything is possible! The beautiful beaches of Kos, a wonderful massage and the various possibilities for hiking, cycling and swimming in the sea will make your vacation complete.

If you feel like it, in the evening you can go with the group to the thermal baths. These are natural hot springs, which the Greeks themselves use to relax and enjoy. With the sun setting and the stars in the sky, it is wonderful to float in the warm water with the sounds of the mountain goats as the background.

Accommodation

  • Accommodation

There are 10 cottages and 2 apartments. They all have a bathroom, kitchenette, a private veranda or balcony and Wi-Fi is available. In the garden there are plenty of spots where you can read and relax in one of the hammocks. The cottages are located on the beach. You can directly walk from the garden to a beautiful and long sandy beach, where you can swim and sunbathe.

    Location

The apartments are located on 4 kilometers from the city of Kos. Near but still far enough from the hustle and bustle. It also allows you to make special walks and cycling trips in the area. On these routes, you’ll find the most fun, real Greek tavernas, where you can enjoy the local atmosphere and the wonderful hospitality of the Greek population.

  • Breakfast

During the yoga weeks, there is a delicious and healthy breakfast, Greek style: freshly baked bread, different kind of cheese from the island, yogurt, nuts, and seasonal fruits from the garden and freshly squeezed juice. Tea and coffee is available all day.

    Dinner

Dinner is prepared on-site by a Greek cook. Everything is fresh with as many local products as possible. The meals are vegetarian. If you have dietary requirements, please inform us. At dinner it’s ‘bring your own booze’. Always nice to taste newly discovered Greek wines from each other. The table is set, nice company and atmospheric lanterns with candles in the trees which creates a successful evening.

Yoga

  • Yoga

The maximum participants in the group is 15. Eleni Valkanou, Marja Bazuin and Panagiota Kostami teach two times daily several styles of yoga sessions, in the morning and in the afternoon. On arrival and departure days there will be one class.

    Eleni
Twelve years ago when I was firstly introduced to Pilates and yoga, I immediately fell in love. My Pilates and yoga studies in London and New York coupled with my ten years of teaching experience in Greece have honed my ability to identify imbalances in my students’ bodies and encourage them to improve their skills and overcome any deficits with a main focus on breathing techniques, body balance and stretching. Moreover, my ballet background has always influenced my classes during which I share my passion for graceful movement and flow while paying particular attention to technique, alignment and control.

    Panagiota
I first met Yoga when I was studying acting in Greece in 2009. I really enjoyed the combination of contemporary dance with some Yoga postures. I was then introduced to Hatha as well as Vinyasa Flow Yoga and at that point I knew that Yoga would be a big part of my life. Since then, I have been passionately practicing Hatha, Ashtanga Vinyasa Flow, and Yin Yoga.

    Marja
10 years ago I started with yoga. And I fell in love. Yoga taught me that everything is fine as it is in this specific moment. Yoga helps you to check in with your body. To feel and to listen to your heart and your intuition.Yoga is much more than performing the asanas on the yogamat and during my yogaclasses, Hatha, Vinyasa flow, Easy flow and Yin yoga, I will help you to find the beauty within yourself.

  • Awakening

The lessons are given alternately in the garden and on the beach. When you wake up, you can enjoy a delicious and healthy juice. Afterwards, you can start the day on your yoga mat while enjoying the fresh sea air and the rhythm of the waves. While you are busy with the sun salutation, you overlook the Aegean Sea and feel the first sunbeams. After this wonderful morning yoga, a rich and healthy breakfast will be waiting for you.

    The rest of the day

The rest of the day, you will have all the time to do what you like and of course we’ll give you recommendations, if you need. In the early evening you have a lesson with views of the sunset. After this wonderful lesson, you can enjoy a delicious dinner.

    Meditation

Meditation with sunset at the Asklepion is very special. This is the sacred place of Hippocrates, who was born in Kos around the year 460 BC. The unique atmosphere makes this meditation a special and unforgettable experience.

“I’ve had a great week! The combination of yoga/hiking and some time for your self was perfect. Also the trip to the hotsprings and the meditation at Asklipion was very special. I’m normally not a vegetarian, but the food was great. All the people are very friendly and helpful and make you feel very welcome!” Willemijn

“It was a fantastic yoga week on Kos. Yoga for all levels. Go for walks or bike rides and relax, enjoy the delicious food, the nice cottages, the big garden, being close to the sea and much more. Do whatever you want to. An absolute must go!” Josselin

“Mariella clearly wanted us all to enjoy this holiday and went out of her way to make this happen. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. In the morning we started with yoga in the garden or on the beach with Eva who was clearly a very experienced yoga practitioner and a friendly and relaxed teacher. Daytime we mostly had the time to do what we wanted to which meant relaxing, sightseeing in Kos or the surrounding villages, cycling to little tavernas for lunch, swimming in the sea, having a massage in the garden or strolling along the beach.

  • In the early evenings, we visited little chapels and old villages, the flamingos on the lake, the Turkish village and bathed in the hot springs. The food was a real joy, not only because it was very delicious and seemed quite healthy, but also that it was authentically Greek. The place itself is located right on the beach which is ideal but has it’s own courtyard with hammocks and ‘break out’ areas to sit in. It is, as it says, near to Kos itself. It is near enough to be easily accessible by bicycle, bus, or even a walk along the coast. It is far enough to be a more tranquil oasis from busy Kos centre. However, if you’re looking for typical tourist accommodation then this isn’t really that. It is a little more rustic and charming. The apartments are spacious and the beds comfortable, not quite so modern as most tourist apartments, but each with a little covered seating area looking over the main grass courtyard. I think we were all glad that the whole experience wasn’t anything like a ‘package’ type holiday One of the things we all enjoyed was the attached farmyard where it was almost a meditation in it’s own right watching the goats and cows etc. wandering in the fields. Then there were the two bouncy dogs and more laid back cat” Ann
